Grounded in Frisco

Folks,

Greetings from the Courtyard by Marriott at San Francisco Airport - Oyster Point Waterfront, where weather-stranded United Airlines passengers go to wait out the day for their next flight out, having missed their earlier connection to Sydney / Melbourne. Fun, yeah?

Had things gone to plan, Muddy and I would have been flying over the Pacific right now, getting our fill of United love (which I can assure you, is even worse than their food) instead of a) tapping out this blog, b) discovering not just a copy of the Bible but also the Book of Mormon in the bedside drawer, c) getting pinged $3.50 USD for a bottle of water and d) drinking coffee made with powdered non-dairy creamer (it's baby formula, surely?).

Anyhoo, we're treating this like a big adventure, and frankly, that's the only way to handle these kinds of frustrations. Yes, I will have to go back to work a day late, and Muddy's work plans for the week (which were complicated to begin with) have been thrown into some disarray, but hey, we're alive and well and the nice United customer service girlie who arranged for the accommodation, the revised flights, the meal and transport vouchers did her best.

And, sometimes, that's all you can hope for.
